wasn't there a waiver asking if you are 18+ or not when you first sign up here? if not, there should be and who cares about "guest" who doesn't exist?

and after that, if people stay around here for whatever the reason, then let that reason be. don't change too much. will the forum survive without members? is the site's purpose is to keep sponsors and kids happy or snowboarding member happy?

please understand that we are all capable of using pm function to address a poster if one is truly offended. let us police ourselves and each other first before admin's action.

Is it really bad that I don't even notice profanity? It honestly doesn't even register with me, but I know it can really upset certain folks. I'm conflicted cuz I think a lot of evil has been done in the name of "decency", yet, I have a strong desire to be decent and courteous myself. It's a constant struggle in me between my individuality and my desire for mutual respect. Do I have a split personality? Is there some medication that might help me? Maybe I need a lobotomy.

Fuggin newbs scratchin up my top sheeters need to be castr8ed.

See... I like profanity. I hate prudes. I enjoy pissing prudes off. It's fun to watch the squirm because their discomfort is their own closed-minded fault to begin with. At the same time, I liked that one south park episode where overuse of profanity caused an ancient evil curse to be awakened and some dragon with a lame voice attacks America or something. The moral of the story being: profanity is cool because it makes prudes squirm. If we use it too much, it will lose it's power.

Dougboy - sorry you're so offended. You're a valuable member of this community and I love reading your posts. In fact, this isn't personal at all...it was more a reaction to just seeing a bunch of spew at once, however if this is the culture you guys want and it's not attacking people then I can let it ride.

Let's do this - let's take a poll on the filters, and just like the 10 posts before you can sell stuff policy, I'll go the democratic route with majority rules.

Sound fair?

if limited/nixing profanity is for sponsorship $$ to maintain the site, I'm all for it. i effing swear a lot but i think it comes across better in your face not in type

an asterix: i think if DB gets attacked by a bat again and has live commentary, he should be able to cuss all he wants.

This is about as bent as a 3 dollar note, and is the straw that broke my camel's back.

Snowboarding site for chin scratchers.

For all the lot 4 heads, see ya next season. To everyone else, Adios.

Cussing has no place until the snow is a gone and your f'in and blinding to get back on a board around Sept time and getting all angry as its raining up to 10,000 ft etc etc. However right now there are still golden fields of corn in them there hills so cussing ain't required. I swear a bit too but usually through close encounters with death or having just shreaded a nice line - its built in since I worked with redneck roughnecks for years but I try to moderate and it only comes out in person sometimes (and my f'in TR thread way back which was high stoke factor!)

Thanks Free. And Sorry OS, I was just making a point.

Funny thing is I regularly backspace over my fucks and shits and whatnots, cause I don't want too seem like too much of a ruffian.

I agree we should keep it in check, but I am sure y'all know which way I voted.

Wow. Very even-handed. Seriously!

I wasn't even going to come back here, but boredom and curiosity won the day. Thank jeebus for democracy! Looks like a few people really threw up their hands though. Hope they don't ditch the site for good.

I think if you compare this site to splitboard.com, TAY, or any of those places where anything remotely offensive is cause for ETERNAL BANMATION you will find we have something they don't have - community. And if you take a look around you, you'll see a bunch of, well, adults. Adults who like to do adult things. Like, swear, for one.

The reaction to that (lamer) that showed up trying to pitch his gear without the requisite 10 posts was predictable, and entertaining, but hardly 'nice'. It was like watching some idiot ride a bike into a barbwire fence. Funny, but slightly painful to watch.

Personally, I find a derogatory comment, sans profanity, FAR worse than the dreaded 'f-er you such a retard don't u know anything you #%$^$' - which actually never happens here. However, if it did, I'd dismiss it out of hand as the rantings of a child who doesn't know enough to put his Swear Words into a Proper Sentence.

I think if we just stick to our golden rules everything will be just fine.

1. Be Excellent To Each Other
This means no flames, personal attacks, name calling, or just plain being a general nuisance.

2. Think Before You Speak
Any Posts which create a liability for the board may be removed without notice and the violator banned. Posts offering legal/medical advice or any posts that create a potential legal liability for the board or its' owners are not allowed.

3. Mod Is God
The moderator acts at the direction of the Site Admin, but has discretional authority to remove any post at will. The forum administrators and moderators are present to ensure the smooth operation of this community. They do this on a volunteer basis because of their love of snowboarding; please respect their contribution. Remember that we are not here to try and assert authority over anyone.

4. Check Your Issues at the Door
Purely political or religious threads are prohibited. Snowboarding threads that become political or religious will be closely monitored, and tolerated only if the discussion is somewhat relevant to snowboarding.

5. We Love Groms
This is a private web community. You are a member here because you offer something of particular value to the community. Please make an effort to keep these forums an enjoyable experience for each and every member, regardless of their age, gender, race, or apparent technical prowess.

6. No Porn
Posting pornographic links, or sexually explicit references is not cool. Your credit card is already welcome at a plethora of internet sites for these purposes, so use it there. We are a snowboarding site, and our focus is on snowboarding, not porn, or references to porn.
