For a moment I thought this was just a celebration of the new board rules. RIP George Carlin. A very funny man, indeed. Enjoy, if you can:

Still find it hard to believe that 'piss' is or was ever banned by the FCC.

yeah, my English friends always ask me that: "piss is a swear word there?"

I think a kid still gets in trouble for saying "piss." At least, when referring to urine. They may be able to get away with "pissed off," though...

It's like Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Isn't "shag" a pretty gnarly word to say there? We got all these little kids running around "shagadelic baby yeah!"

George Carlin was my favorite though... I'm sad today.

The first adult comedy I ever bought was the "Class Clown" album in 72. I was 12 and my parents did't like that album.

One of my favorites! RIP.

I remember when he was arrested at Milwaukee's Summerfest in 72.

I dunno. It's pretty tame. I suppose, if you were young enough, and your parents strict enough, it could get a reprimand. Certainly when I was in public school - granted, I was in the States for my early teens, so I was probably 14 when I went back to school there - I heard a great deal worse. And said a great deal worse. Since the British public schools have been somewhat enlightened (as in, they still stuff you in a uniform, but they can't beat you with a cane or whatever) authoritarian teachers only had limited success in reigning in the more unruly students... like me.

It certainly isn't as strong a word as it's four letter cousin. And 'shagadelic' is even more tame. Looks like a fancy synonym for 'sexy'.

'Piss' is a funny one. 'Piss off!' isn't a particularly nice thing to say, somewhere barely below 'Fuck off!'. 'Taking the piss' on the other hand... means having fun at someone else's expense. 'Taking a piss', well, we all know what that means, and that's not swearing at all.

wait, I just realized.... is this mean we are not supposed to say "piss pass" over our radio because its frequency is regulated by the fcc?

I've actually found myself getting embarrassed a few times when saying "Piss Pass."

As far as I know, the FCC decency regulations apply only to licensed broadcasters. You need a license for anything in the public FM band (at least over a watt, or whatever). As an unlicensed transmitter, you're free to say whatever you want... on frequency ranges that don't require a license.

Actually certain FRS radios supposedly require a license. Whatever. It's not a public broadcast license.

our radios frequency is licensed for our use only and I'm not talking about walkie talkie radios.

anyway, I'm glad we don't have another run with names using other 6 words.

What, you're using citizen's band?

Either you have a license, or you're using a frequency that doesn't require a license, or you're breaking the law (wooooohooo! Arrrrrrrr me matey). Regardless, since you control both ends of the circuit, you're always free to use a scrambler - like, say, a Motorola Saber with the 'secure' module.

Note to self: those look really cool. Get one.

Doing some research on FRS encryption, and this takes the cake. If you want to see exactly how fascist the FCC can be... look no further.

Essentially NO YOU CAN'T transmit profanity. Or say the word 'Mayday'. Or... whistle (whistle??). I shit you not.

Edit: wtf.
